La carte Surrak, the Hunt Caller représente Surrak Dragonclaw dans un présent alternatif, créé par Sarkhan Vol en sauvant Ugin et les dragons du Plan de Tarkir, où il n'a jamais pris le pouvoir en tant que khan (voir cette anecdote).

Les cinq cartes Enduring Scalelord, Cunning Breezedancer, Ruthless Deathfang, Swift Warkite et Savage Ventmaw, de l'édition Dragons of Tarkir, forment un cycle de dragons bicolores peu communs soutenant chacun un archétype de formats limités.

La carte Ixidron est une référence à Ixidor, Reality Sculptor de par son nom, son coût de mana, son interaction avec les créatures face cachée, et enfin une de ses illustrations.

La carte Kharasha Foothills prend place sur Mongseng, qui était le premier jet d'un Plan qui fut ensuite étoffé puis renommé Tarkir.

Les cinq cartes Anafenza, the Foremost, Narset, Enlightened Master, Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, Zurgo Helmsmasher et Surrak Dragonclaw, de l'édition Khans of Tarkir, forment un cycle de créatures légendaires tricolores, chacune représentant le khan de son clan.
Au moment des événements de l'édition Tarkir: Dragonstorm, les khans des clans sont respectivement Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan, Narset, Jeskai Waymaster, Kotis, the Fangkeeper, Zurgo, Thunder's Decree et Eshki Dragonclaw ; les anciens khans Anafenza, Unyielding Lineage, Sidisi, Regent of the Mire et Surrak, Elusive Hunter ont une autre occupation au sein du clan.

Sur l'illustration de la carte Assemble the Team, de l'édition Alchemy: The Brothers' War, on peut voir de dos les planeswalkers Tyvar Kell, Kaya, Ghost Assassin, The Wanderer, Vraska the Unseen et Nissa Revane.

Les cinq cartes Legion's Chant, Hymn to the Ages, Mycelic Ballad, Ribald Shanty et Colossal Chorus, de l'édition Alchemy: Ixalan, forment un cycle de chœurs.

Les trois cartes Herald's Reveille, Dusk's Landing et Pirate's Landing, de l'édition Alchemy: Ixalan, forment un cycle.
