Old Fogey évoque une légende urbaine, impossible à sourcer (voir aussi
cette anecdote), selon laquelle la carte
Plague Rats, de l'édition
Limited (Alpha), aurait été, alors qu'à l'origine le nombre d'exemplaires d'une même carte (hors terrains de base) n'était pas encore limité à quatre dans un deck, au cœur d'une liste ne comprenant que des Plague Rats, des
Black Lotus et des
Swamp, en proportions variables selon les versions.
Ces listes sont encore aujourd'hui jouables dans le format alternatif Alpha 40 (deck de minimum 40 cartes, sans limitation du nombre d'exemplaires de chaque carte).
